Update on Ruth March 23rd, 2010 From Sharon Hall

Hi all: Ruth had a steady stream of visitors today. Of course Heather Frick was there to start out her day and Jim Ballis and Nina Goodlet came by in the afternoon and visited for a couple hours. I arrived at about 5.15 PM after work and stayed till about 7PM.

Mom really had an appetite today, for the past couple days, she had slowed down on her eating and was only eating about a third of her food. She ate Monday and today, well over ½ of her meal! She did really well and enjoyed her apple cobbler dessert too. She also had some coffee, and you could tell she was happy for that. We will have to make sure we get that added to her menu.

She was also more awake today. She is still a bit distracted and has had a change in her blood pressure meds, so as she evens out, she should become more interactive (I Hope!)

One of the ladies that lives in the home is a bit silly, wears funny hats and like to kid around. She came over and saw us at dinner and played the Kazoo for mom. She played and I sang YELLOW ROSE OF TEXAS, and BYE BYE BLACKBIRD. Mom smiled at us.

After dinner I stopped by the piano and played mom the two songs I know and we went into the common room for a game of price is right.

We saw Marian again, another woman at the center and she visited with us a bit. Something about our mother stirs an emotion of kindness in others and they seem very protective and helpful towards her. What a blessing for us all. Michelle, the Kazoo player said Mom has an “angelic look” about her. How perceptive.

Nina’s two girls were also coming over this evening after I left so Mom will have company right up till bedtime.
Love to all
Sharon
